Mega Man Xtreme on Game Boy Color (GBC), playable online with save states, gamepad and mobile touch support.
Capcom's Game Boy Color spin-off drops X into cyberspace. Hackers calling themselves the Shadow Hunters have broken into the Mother Computer, and X dives in to erase the stored battle data of Mavericks from his earlier missions, which is the story's reason for stages and bosses drawn out of the SNES Mega Man X and X2. A young reploid named Middy guides you, while his twin brother Techno and the hunters Zain and Geemel work the other side.
The loop follows the X games exactly: choose any stage, run, dash and wall-climb through it, beat the boss and take its weapon, then aim that weapon at whichever boss folds to it. Armour capsules are hidden in the levels, including the leg upgrade that grants the dash and a helmet piece for breaking certain blocks. Normal mode covers four bosses and Hard mode another four.
Instead of shrinking one SNES game, this rebuilds X-series stages to fit a screen a fraction of the size, with reworked layouts, then splits them across difficulty modes. Normal mode runs Chill Penguin, Storm Eagle, Spark Mandrill and Flame Stag; Hard mode brings in Morph Moth, Armored Armadillo, Magna Centipede and Wheel Gator. Clearing both opens Xtreme mode, where all eight are selectable from the start, which is as close to a complete Mega Man X game as the Game Boy Color got.
You can play with keyboard, gamepad, or touch (on mobile). The default keyboard layout is below; remap any key inside the emulator settings.
No. It is an original Game Boy Color game that reuses rebuilt stages and bosses from Mega Man X and X2, wrapped in a new story about hackers inside the Mother Computer. The layouts were redesigned for the handheld screen.
Clear Normal mode, which runs Chill Penguin, Storm Eagle, Spark Mandrill and Flame Stag, then Hard mode, which covers Morph Moth, Armored Armadillo, Magna Centipede and Wheel Gator. Xtreme mode then opens with all eight bosses selectable from the start.
The leg part that grants the dash is in Chill Penguin's stage and the helmet part that lets X break certain blocks is in Storm Eagle's stage. The body armour is in Flame Stag's stage, and the arm cannon upgrade is in Spark Mandrill's stage but needs the helmet to reach.
