Play PlayStation 2 (PS2) games in your browser with PLAY2. Tekken 5, Black, Burnout 3 - Takedown, Need For Speed Carbon and Need For Speed Most Wanted are ready on a PC with Chrome or Edge (WebGPU); more PS2 classics are on the way.
PLAY2 is how OldGames brings PlayStation 2 (PS2) games to the browser. Instead of a general-purpose PS2 emulator, each game’s code is recompiled ahead of time to WebAssembly, and the PS2 graphics are drawn by your graphics card through WebGPU. The game disc streams from our CDN while you play, so there is nothing to install.
What you need: a desktop or laptop PC with a current Chrome or Edge that supports WebGPU, a free OldGames account to sign in, and a keyboard or any controller your browser recognizes. A second controller becomes player 2, and analog triggers work as the PS2’s pressure-sensitive L2 and R2. Saves go to a PS2 memory card kept in your browser, which you can export and import.
What works today: Tekken 5, Black, Burnout 3 - Takedown, Need For Speed Carbon and Need For Speed Most Wanted. Each game is played from boot into the game itself before it opens on PLAY2. PLAY2 is in beta, so expect rough edges, and performance depends on your graphics card.
What is coming: Crash Nitro Kart, Final Fantasy XII, Grand Theft Auto Vice City, Need For Speed Underground 2, Tekken Tag Tournament are being brought to PLAY2 one by one, and each game page says when it is ready. Phones and tablets are not supported yet. On a Windows PC you can also play these games today in the OldGames Launcher.
